Snowshoeing!

Ok Mamas, have you tried snowshoeing? I LOVE snowshoeing!

If you haven’t tried it, grab yourself a pair and get out there! Especially if you enjoy hiking, snowshoeing is a great way to hike right through the winter weather. It’s also great with kids, generally with younger kids you can carry them in a front carrier or back carrier and/or pull them in a sled. (see our pictures below)

We were recently in Vermont for a little family getaway/work research and loved exploring the backcountry on snowshoes. It’s a great way to find quiet and peace in the trees as well as get your heart rate up and moving.

If you’re pregnant this winter and need or want to take it slower, I think snowshoeing while pregnant can be a good alternative to skiing or other more challenging activities. With snowshoeing, you can simply slow down or take breaks as you need to rest. Or really pick up the pace if you’re feeling good and your energy is there.

Generally there are places with trails that will allow you to rent snowshoes, but as far as outdoor gear goes, snowshoes can be purchased pretty reasonably. Make sure to pack your favorite maternity baselayer and HAVE SOME FUN! :-)
